About this Site (Site Policy)

KYOTO STEAM – International Arts × Science Festival Website (hereinafter referred to as “the Site”) is operated by the Executive Committee of KYOTO STEAM – International Arts × Science Festival (hereinafter referred to as “the Committee”). All users of the Site are required to read the following Terms of Use in advance, and use the Site only after they agree to these Terms of Use. We reserve the right to modify or amend these Terms of Use as necessity. The revised version of this document is posted on the Site. Please confirm the latest version of the Terms.

1. Copyright

The copyright and other rights related to all contents (texts, images, documents, etc.) posted on the Site shall belong to the Committee and those who provide the contents to the Committee. The contents are protected by the Copyright Acts of Japan, International Conventions and the copyright acts of other countries, and you cannot use the contents beyond the scope of personal use stipulated in the copyright acts. It is strictly prohibited to provide any contents herein for the use of any third party in any manner, such as modification, reproduction, lease, loan, sale, publishing, data transfer, and broadcasting, without permission of the holder of the copyright. However, terms of use separately established for individual works shall take precedence.

2. Trade Mark

All the names of companies, organizations, services, and products published on the Site are registered or non-registered trademarks of respective companies or organizations. This Site may refer to their product names and organization names for convenience, however, we have no intention or purpose to violate the trademark rights thereof.

3. Disclaimer

The information posted on the Site are provided with our full attention, however, the Committee does not accept any responsibility for any act that the user conducts by using any information on the Site. The websites linked from this Site are run under the responsibility of respective operators. Users are requested to abide by the Terms of Use or other conditions of such linked sites when accessing them. Information provided on this Site may be changed or deleted without prior notice.

4. Links

Users may, in principle, freely link to this Site. Users acknowledge, however, that the Committee may decline the linking to this Site should the content or the linking method of the websites who requests to link, or who have already linked, falls under any of the following categories:

  • Is against public order and morals,
  • Causes damage to any third party,
  • Causes damage to the Committee, or
  • Ruins the credibility of the Committee.

Linking to this Site does not mean that the Committee recommends the content of the websites established by any organization or person who linked to the Site, and the Committee does not assume any responsibility for the content of such websites.

5. Handling of Personal Information on the Site (Privacy Policy)

We are well aware that personal information of the users of this Site constitutes their privacy, and we endeavor to optimize the ease of their use of this Site.

(1) Personal information on the Site
In principle, we do not publish any personal information unless the Committee deems it to have public interests.

(2) Personal information of users
A. Viewing the Site
Usually, the users may access this Site without providing any personal information. When the Committee publicly calls for participation in its activities, the applicant will be required to provide his name, e-mail address and other information. In such a case, the name, e-mail address and other information obtained are used only for responding to and identification of the applicant, and we will not use the information for any other purposes.

B. Record of communications (Access log)
The access logs recorded on the server of the Site are used for better operation hereof, such as survey of trend of use (for example, counting the number of visits to the Site). We will not identify the specific person in such a survey. However, this shall not apply when we are required by the public authorities or organizations including the court and the police to provide information based on laws and regulations in case of malicious mischief, crime, etc.

C. Links (Third-parties’ sites)
Third parties’ sites which can be accessed through this Site have established their own privacy policy separately from the Committee. The Committee assumes no obligation or responsibility for the handling of personal information by these third parties’ sites.

(3) The Committee’s Personal Information Protection System
The Committee’s Personal Information Protection System is based on the Personal Information Protection System of City of Kyoto. For details, please refer to the “Outline of personal information protection system.”

6. Social media policy

In regard to social media utilization, the Committee endeavors to provide proper information in compliance with the related acts and regulations as the Site. Information published on our social media accounts does not necessarily express the Committee’s official opinion. Official presentations and opinions are released on the Site and/or from the public relations. Information on social media accounts is deemed to be correct at the time of issue, however, the Committee reserves the right to change it later without notice. The users acknowledge that the Committee may terminate or suspend the operation of social media accounts, delete comments and block accounts at its discretion.

7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

All the matters concerning the use of this Site shall be governed by the laws of Japan. The Kyoto District Court of Japan shall have the exclusive jurisdiction of the first instance over any and all disputes arising out of or relating to this Site.
