KYOTO STEAM—International Arts × Science Festival will hold an international art competition as the core program for the upcoming second edition of the festival in 2022, presenting works by artists selected through an open call in collaboration with corporations and research institutes.

“KYOTO STEAM 2020 International Art Competition Launch Exhibition” looks ahead to this art competition. The exhibition features the works created collaboratively by seven artists with corporations and research institutes for “STEAM THINKING: Art to Create the Future̶ Kyoto International Art Competition: Launch Exhibition,” which was canceled due to the coronavirus. Also included are rearranged versions of the collaborative works by three art universities in Kyoto, corporations, and research institutes from “STEAM THINKING: Art to Create the Future—Art × Science GIG,” originally planned to take place concurrently with the exhibit ion but likewise canceled.

Moreover, the exhibition also includes works by corporations whose aim of creating new values through integrating art, science, and technology aligns with the goals of KYOTO STEAM—International Arts × Science Festival.

Experience the potential for integrating art, science, and technology, pioneered by these collaborations among artists, corporations, and research institutes.
